I love African history so this should have worked for me. Documentaries by black scholars are my favourite thing and I've watched many. There was lots of stimulating and interesting discoveries but the talking heads and melodramatic music with the underlying (black people are good and white people are bad) subtext got annoying after a while. Unfortunately, the format didn't work for me. I really wanted to enjoy this documentary as it was highly recommended.
